How to use MyJamTracks

Backing tracks — a band to jam with

Create a backing track right above, or choose Paste song chords to bring in a song. A new track opens in Blues shuffle at 98 BPM with the chords G, C, D and G and all four instruments on. Play, the BPM box and the Style, Settings and File buttons sit at the top; below them each section is a row of chord tiles, and a + Add section button follows the last section. Press Play and the band follows your chords; press the same button again to pause, Play once more to resume from that bar, and the Stop button beside it to end the track.

  1. Style: the button shows the style you are using, for example Blues shuffle. Open it to pick another; the list shows style names grouped by family (pop, rock, blues, country, folk, reggae, funk and soul, jazz, Latin, ballads, waltz and 6/8, punk and metal, dance, hip-hop, gospel, march). A new style brings its own suggested tempo, which you can change in the BPM box.
  2. Chords: click or tap a tile to open the chord editor. Pick one of the twelve root buttons, then Major or Minor (Major is the default). For any other chord, select the tile and type its name, for example F#m7, Bb7 or G/B, then press Enter; Enter moves on to the next tile. Bass note and Length in beats (1–8) are at the bottom of the editor; a tile is as wide as its length, with a mark for every beat. Arrow keys move between chords, + adds one and Delete removes it.
  3. Add section sits in the editor’s top row, to the right of the Chord field, and copies the chords of the last section. Randomize chords sits at the editor’s bottom left and suggests a progression in the current key; Undo puts the old chords back. Both are there while the editor is open.
  4. Sections: each one has a name (Intro, Verse, Chorus…), a repeat count (×1–×8), a variation (1 sparse to 4 full), a trash can and a grip to drag it into a new order (or focus the grip and press the up and down arrow keys).
  5. Settings: piano, acoustic guitar, bass and drums on or off, Count in, Repeat chords, Transpose chords, Time signature (where the style allows) and Volume.
  6. File: New, Open and Save (kept in this browser), Share link (copies a link that opens these chords on MyJamTracks), Download MP3 (the whole song, all repeats, rendered in your browser) and Use a song’s chords, which loads the chords of the song you last pasted.

Piano, guitar and bass are recordings of real instruments: up to 0.9 MB of short samples, downloaded when you open Backing tracks and then kept by your browser. Drums are made live by your browser. No sound? Check the volume and press Play again. MP3 downloads use the lamejs encoder (LGPL, licence).

Save, name and organize your tracks

Choose Save here in an empty slot, give your track a name and save it. Open loads a saved copy into the creator; Replace updates that copy with your latest edits. Rename changes its label. Delete clears the slot after confirmation. Add 4 storage slots creates an empty row, up to 12 slots. On phones, the same slots wrap into smaller rows.

The creator also keeps its original File → Save and Open collection. A full JSON backup includes both collections and your current draft.

Upload, download and protect your work

Download track JSON saves the current track. Download full backup saves all your slots, the File menu collection and your current draft. Upload JSON accepts either file: a single track opens in the creator; a full backup replaces the workspace after confirmation. Imported files are checked before changing any saved data.

The meter estimates text stored on this website against a conservative 4 MiB allowance. At 97%, or if a save fails, editing locks. Download a full backup and check the file before confirming it is saved. You can then delete backed-up slots or clear the backed-up workspace. Nothing is automatically deleted. A backup download does not free space; you must remove stored data. If another tab changed your tracks, back up your current tab and reload it.

Storage belongs to this browser and device. Private browsing, clearing site data or browser cleanup can remove it. Keep regular JSON backups. This app does not upload your music to a server.

Bring in a song’s chords

Choose Paste song chords, add a title, and paste chord lines such as G C D Em, or bracketed chords in lyrics such as [G]Hello [C]world. Section labels such as [Verse] and [Chorus] organize the song. Choose Load chords. The original File → Use a song’s chords command can reload the last song you pasted.
